CONOR McGREGOR’S newest UFC rival Islam Makhachev is a ‘better version of Khabib Nurmagomedov’.
That’s the opinion of his, and Khabib’s, manager Ali Abdelaziz who is tipping the 30-year-old to become a world champion.
Due to his close relationship with Team Khabib, Makhachev, who has lost one of his 21 UFC bouts, has been linked with fighting The Notorious down the line.
But Abdelaziz doesn’t seem to fear his man losing to the former two-weight champ.
Speaking to TMZ, Abdelaziz said: “Islam Makhachev, there’s not too many people jumping to fight him.
“I think he is going to be one of the greatest fighters ever. I think he is a better version than Khabib.
“I truly believe he is. He is not now but he can be and I think he’s a future world champion for sure.”
Nurmagomedov retired from UFC in October 2020 after stopping Justin Gaethje at UFC 254.
